Weight-loss Programme

There is no perfect diet that suits everyone. Getting anyone to a desired weight takes a lot more than simply prescribing a low calorie diet.

Sometimes difficulty losing weight stems from an underlying health complaint. If you have irregular menstrual cycles, low energy, unexplained weight gain, acne or male pattern hair growth, it will be important to have blood tests done to see check for an underlying cause to your excess weight.

REAL FOOD is used as your weight loss “medicine” along with nutritional and herbal support to ensure elimination of all toxins and balance of blood sugar levels. No meal replacements, starving or calorie counting is needed. And any diets undertaken with those methods will see short term benefits and long term anxiety.

Regular monitoring with BIA (bio impedance) screenings to ensure you are losing weight correctly (through fat loss instead of muscle or fluid loss), allows us to adjust your program as your health improves. This is a non-invasive, painless and quick screening, giving you a breakdown of your body composition.

Our weight loss method is based on a specific technology, with over 2000 published scientific studies behind it.

Detox Programme

Detoxification is a commonly used term but do you need to detox?

Do you suffer from fatigue, recurrent infections, skin problems, bloating/flatulence/ irregular bowel habits, hormonal imbalances, anxiety/mood swings, muscle aching/weakness, allergies, excess weight or poor concentration?

If you answered yes to any of the above symptoms then your body is in need of help and a detox is the best way to start.

We are not only what we eat, but also what we drink, breathe and touch. In today’s environment chemicals, plastics, heavy metals, foods and additives, which are toxic to our system, surround us. Our bodies work best by digesting and absorbing pure and organic fruit, vegetables, nuts, grains, proteins and water. Our bodies are certainly not designed with enzymes that break down, confectionery, alcohol, soft drinks, additives and preservatives, processed foods, medications, traffic fumes, cigarettes and recreational drugs. Over time, continued contact with these toxins can overwhelm the body, resulting in a plethora of systems that mean we aren’t operating at our best!

Most people with toxicity develop a problem called “leaky-gut syndrome”. In a healthy digestive system the lining of the digestive tract serves as a filter, allowing beneficial nutrients like vitamins and amino acids to pass into the bloodstream, whilst keeping toxic bacteria and the waste products of what we ingest within the bowel.

Infection, medications, bad bacteria, yeasts, easily damage this filter and parasites, which then lead to an unregulated transport of only partially digested foods and waste into the body. This places tremendous stress on the other detoxification organs (kidneys, liver, bowel, skin) and ultimately the immune system.

Hormone Testing

Assesses hormonal imbalance in both men and women. Can screen for a baseline in fertility, PCO/PCOS, Endometriosis, Fibroids, PMS, poor libido, erectile dysfunction, and impotence.

Hormones that may be tested via a salivary collection include:  Oesterone (E1), Oestradiol (E2), Oestriol (E3), Progesterone (P4), Testosterone (TT), DHEA-S, Cortisol and Melatonin.

Adrenal hormone Testing

Beneficial for fatigue and adrenal burnout. This test is conducted either through a salivary test or a blood test checking your cortisol (stress hormone) levels at different times of the day.

Thyroid Testing

TSH, T3, rT3, T4, and thyroid antibodies. Thyroid hormones are essential in maintaining and regulating the body’s metabolism, energy levels, healthy weight and fertility.

A full thyroid hormone profile is essential to determine the health of your thyroid. Symptoms of an underactive thyroid include: dry and coarse skin, weakness and lethargy, constipation, weight gain, heavy and irregular periods and depression.

Symptoms of an overactive thyroid includes fast metabolic rate, rapid heartbeat, nervousness and palpitations, weight loss and frequent bowel movements.

This test is done via a finger prick blood test.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

Hair tissue mineral analysis is a non-intrusive health screening tool for measuring your body’s mineral status. This data can highlight potential health problems and help you to treat them through a nutritional program designed to meet your individual needs.

As the name suggests this test is done by providing a hair sample to Interlinical laboratories.

Vitamin & Mineral testing

With careful dietary analysis we can ascertain what is missing in your diet to provide optimal vitamin and mineral levels to prevent disease. However if your practitioner suspects nutritional deficiencies blood or urine tests may be requested.  Some of these tests will be a blood test with collection taking place at a local Healthscope laboratory, whilst some are tested via urine in which case you can collect your specimen in the privacy of your own home.

Genetic/Methylation testing

A simple blood test can often help to solve the puzzle of why you are suffering from: fertility issues, cardiovascular issues, depression , headaches, migraine and weight issues.

This test determines if you have a mutation in this gene and therefore are not methylating properly as a result you may not have the right amount of active folate available.

Sperm Analysis

For couples experiencing fertility concerns a semen analysis will often be requested. This analysis is used to determine if one of the parameters of the sperm would be improved by nutritional intervention or if in fact IVF/ICSI would be the couple’s best choice.

A request form is provided to the patient where they book a time at GENEA IVF clinic. The sample may be collected in the patients home or at the clinic an embryologist will then assess the semen and provide a report outlining the sperm count, how well the sperm are moving, their shape and to asses for abnormalities.

Iridology

Historically, the study of the eye can easily be traced back through civilization. The Chinese discerned health tendencies from the size shape and set of the eyes, and in Ayurvedic medicine the colour of the eyes is part of the description of a person’s Prakriti (constitution).

Modern Iridology is defined as the study and analysis of the coloured section of the eye known as the Iris. Every part of the body relates to a different section of the iris and this is looked at through a magnification torch.

Iridology can help individuals to understand the total picture of their health, providing a valuable cross-check for other forms of health evaluation. It be a useful diagnostic tool particularly for preventative health.

The iris can help reveal the potential disposition to certain health imbalances through an assessment of inherited and acquired tendencies. It is used to determine factors that may be important in the prevention of ill health, as well as working towards the attainment of optimal health. Iridology is included in consultations as a way to ascertain, which areas of the body are in most urgent need of support and which dietary changes would benefit the patient.

Iridology is a safe and non-invasive diagnostic method and can be of benefit to everyone. Due to light shining directly into the eye it is not recommended for people suffering with epilepsy.

Autoimmune Diseases

With the decline in gut health, high levels of stress and a toxic environment we are noticing a dramatic increase in the rate of developing autoimmune disease. Part of our practice is to not only treat autoimmune disease but also to work preventatively.

If Kylie suspects autoimmunity may be a cause of your health concerns she may request blood tests through Laverty Pathology .

Tests may include:

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)
C- Reactive Protein (CRP) Antinuclear Antibody (ANA)
Natural killer cells
Homocysteine
